Well, you got me excited with news of a new driver unfortunately, it also does not solve the problem. I installed the new driver from the link you sent and ran ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. The renew still shows ethernet without a default gateway and with an autoconfig IP.
I re-ran diagnostics and it still reports invalid IP configuration. As far as Windows 1`0 1511 update, it is not available to me yet. When I open Windows Update it tells me it is up to date as of 11/13. When I run 'check for update' it says 'There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80245006)'.
Then I look at advanced options and I see 'Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3106246)' successfully installed. I dont believe these are the updates for 1511 and I don't know why it is not yet available to me.

The 'Unidentified network' symptom means something is broken regarding addressing, identification and (I suspect) authorization.
To try to bypass the latter I was sometimes able to override either the default gateway or hardcode the IP address (e.g. Using TCP properties, Advanced tab). Appreciate the update. To clarify, you are not experiencing any issues with WiFi on the aforementioned machine. Meaning you are able to navigate with WiFi without any issues (no IP configuration issues), but when switching to an Ethernet connection the following error pops: 'doesn't have a valid IP configuration'.
